Pittman was a prolific collector. He and his wife re-mortgaged their house to buy coins at the King Farouk sale. When we purchased this coin there was also a 1 pound coin for sale. After doing some reaserch we think there were two Syrian gold coins sold at the Farouk sale. There is a strong possibility that this coin was one of them.
